Window on Barrington: Digitizing the Barrington Review

The Barrington Area Library was awarded a grant to digitize early years of the Barrington Review. Funding for this grant was awarded by the Illinois State Library (ISL), a Division of the Office of Secretary of State, using funds provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), under the federal Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA).

The Barrington Review is an invaluable source of information on the Barrington area. It is of interest to genealogists, historians, and local history fans. Many people use it to trace their ancestors. The Barrington Review from 2/1890-12/1921; 4/1925- is available on microfilm for viewing at the Barrington Area Library. The years selected for the digitization project were the earliest years that could be digitized successfully. The black lines in the digital files were caused by scratches due to use. It was the only microfilm available for digitization.
